President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has formally launched the Football Association of Maldives’ “SAFF Championship Campaign” (FAM). The ceremony took place at the National Stadium on Sunday night. The campaign was kicked off by President Solih touching a replica of the SAFF Championship trophy.

FAM intends to execute nationwide marketing and public relations initiatives as part of the campaign launched tonight. During the inauguration ceremony, a video demonstration of the campaign was shown, as well as a presentation explaining the effort. Bassam Adeel Jaleel, FAM’s President, introduced “Aharemenge Faharu,” a book commemorating the SAFF Championship and presented certificates to the event’s partners and sponsors

The Maldives is hosting the SAFF Championship for the first time, having previously only co-hosted the 2008 games with Sri Lanka. From October 1st to October 16th, 2021, the event will take place.
