Lebanon advanced to the semi-finals of the Bangabandhu SAFF Championship 2023 after defeating Bhutan 4-1 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
With two straight wins, Lebanon have six points in Group B and will face Maldives in their last outing.
Lebanon got all their four goals in the first half. Mohamad Sadek opened the scoring for Lebanon in 11th minute, while Ali AL Haj, Khalil Bader and Mahdi Zein were the on scoresheet in the 23rd, 35th and 42nd minutes respectively.
For Bhutan, Chencho Gyeltshen scored in the 79th minute.
In the first match of the day, Bangladesh came from behind to defeat Maldives 3-1. Hamza Mohamed had put Maldives in front in the 18th minute but Rakib Hossain leveled the score for Bangladesh in the 42nd minute.
Tariq Rahan Kazi gave Bangladesh the lead in the 67th minute, while Shekh Morsalin sealed the win for Bangladesh in the 90th minute.
Maldives and Bangladesh both have three points each, and the last Group B matches shall decide the fate of the teams.
