Kuwait got the better of Nepal 3-1 in the opening match of the SAFF Championship 2023, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Wednesday, June 21.
Kuwait, playing in the SAFF Championship for the first time as one of the two teams invited from outside the region, found the breakthrough in 23rd minute Khaled Hajiah.
Shabaib Alkhaldi doubled the lead in the 42nd minute and Mohammad Abdullah scored from a penalty in the 65th minute.
Nepal pulled on back through Anjan Bista in the 69th minute.
Kuwait next play Pakistan, and Nepal will be facing India. Both the matches are scheduled for 24 June.
